Renault Koleos Reviews

The Renault Koleos has a split tailgate; the top section is comprised of the rear windscreen with a 'V-neck' lower edge and a leading edge that ends at the base of the lights clusters. The second portion drops down to reveal a high load platform and is strong enough to take the weight of two adults. At just over 1metre wide, the loading aperture is said to be among the widest in it this class.
Overall, the Renault Koleos is imposing. It looks capable without the need to shout about it. It also has some nice practical touches, and is generally well thought out.
Take, for instance, the rear seat Super-fold system available as an extra on the top two trim levels. Being able to fold the rear seats from the boot is nothing new but I don't think I've ever seen such an easy method of achieving this. In a similar to the system to that in the new Renault Laguna Sports Tourer, just inside the boot are proper handles and not buttons. Pulling on them releases the seat squabs, which rise as the backrest folds, in one simple movement. The normal method is also present on the sides of the seats but using the boot handles saves a goodly amount of wrestling.
These seats have the usual 60:40 split and fold to form a flat floor and increasing the load capacity from 450- to a maximum of 1,380-litres. Moreover, there is a ski-flap through the centre seat back and plenty of hooks for attaching a cargo net. Not all of the Renault Koleos' have a folding front passenger seat, which should be borne in mind if long items are regularly carried.
The high boot floor hides the most well equipped boot tray I have seen in a long time and more storage can be found within two, under-floor compartments in the rear footwell, in the back of the front central armrest and in a drawer beneath the front passenger seat. The top two trim levels also have a cooled glove box and the armrest storage has a handy removable bin. These solutions, together with bottle-holders in the doors, cup-holders dotted around the cabin and drop-down trays on the backs of the front seats, make the Renault Koleos a very tidy and practical car.
